What is the Concierge Model of Support?

The Concierge Model of Support in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a unique approach to Supported Independent Living (SIL). This model allows individuals with disabilities to live in the privacy of their own Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Supported Independent Living apartments.

 

Each resident contributes a portion of their SIL funding to have a support worker live on-site in a separate apartment, available on an agreed schedule or for emergencies. This model is ideal for those who are very independent but may need support at different times of the day with activities they cannot do on their own, such as showering.

 

The concierge model not only provides 24/7 support for residents but also delivers a cost-effective NDIS solution by sharing the cost of this support. This allows residents to stretch their funds wider for other needs.

 

This innovative model of care means support staff are on-hand for emergencies and also have the ability to engage other areas within the service when the client needs to move into a home with higher support needs.
